What's in store for 2009?
First of all I wish everybody all the best for 2009. May all your wishes come true and may your year be filled to the brim with joy, health, love, peace and music!
Now 2008 has been a rather good year for me. I planned to record an album that I would put on the internet for free and I did. I wanted to make a couple of instruction videos and I did. But the biggest news of last year was of course the introduction of my own signature guitar, the PK WS6.
I can only hope that I will be able to realise all my plans for this coming year as well. So what are those plans? Well, first of all will this be the year of the WS6 guitar. You can expect a website dedicated to this fine musical instrument as well as movieclips and soundbites. All downloadable for free as usual. And of course, you can get this magnificent guitar as well, stay tuned for more news about that.
Next I will be doing some things that are a bit new for me. First of all I will be recording some covertunes which will appear on one or more sharity-albums. One cover is by a Dutch artist and it's the first song you hear in the Tarantino movie "Reservoir Dogs", while the other cover is by an American artist who has the same last name as mr. Jack Daniels in which a boy named Johnny makes some lighthearted bet with Old Nick himself!
I will also be recording an instrumental track with another guitarplayer, namely Gert Nijboer from the Dutch band Highway Chile. This track is also supposed to appear on a sharity-album. Stay tuned for more details as things are taking shape.
Because I'm a very ambitious guy I have also planned to do another album this year. Again, this album will be completely free to download (including the booklet). I think this will come to pass in the fall of 2009, but recordings have allready begun. For now I can give you the title; "Hidden in Reality". The album will be diffrent from the former one (Weapons of Mass Seduction). Don't fear, it will shred like heck, but I'm trying to put more influences from diffrent music styles in this time.
And last but not least, I'm hoping to turn 40 this year. Yep, I know, that's old, but I find solace in the fact that I'm not alone in reaching this milestone this year, because so are Buckethead, Ron Thal, Jason Becker, Mattias IA Eklundh and Dweezil Zappa. So for some reason 1969 was a good year for shredders....
Anyway, stay tuned for more news on this section of the site, because 2009 is shaping up to be on good, albeit busy year.
Take care, talk to you later,
